66 confirmed "attacks" on Greek websites by Turkish hackers - The targets included in the second wave of cyber attacks "Yunanistan 2".

In full swing since 30 April the “επιχείρηση “Yunanistan 2” των Τούρκων χάκερ, η οποία ξεκίνησε με το “χτύπημα” στην ιστοσελίδα του Αθηναϊκού και Μακεδονικού Πρακτορείου Ειδήσεων.

According to the statements made by Theofanis Kasimis, the managing director of Audax Cybersecurity, on enikos.gr, the attacks are expected to escalate in the near future based on the research conducted by the company on the Darknet, the "dark" network where users can exchange encrypted messages, primarily of suspicious content.

"The specific Turkish hackers believe that Greece 'hosts' terrorists, referring to the eight Turkish officers. This is the reason they claim to have launched their new attack. In the report we submitted to the Cybercrime Prosecution, we found that these attacks will escalate," stated Mr. Kasimis to enikos.gr.

The next objectives

"According to the messages exchanged between them, they seem to be preparing 'strikes' on Greek ministries such as Foreign Affairs, Justice, Transport, the General Staff and the Bank of Greece," he says. "Although Greece has infrastructure and well-trained personnel, however, the Turks are determined to penetrate these targets."

The Audax Cybersecurity report includes data from the "Yunanistan 1" operation, which was launched on 4 March and completed on 25 April, where there were 66 confirmed "hits" on Greek websites, including 14 universities, 25 private companies, 4 municipalities and the news website "Observer of Thrace".
